This is an excellent point, and one that I find myself falling in the trap of quite regularly. While the world suffered from a pandemic, we were quick to decry people who would profiteer from suffering.

And yet now when we try to motivate countries and corporations to address the larger threat of environmental and market collapse, we try to make it out as an opportunity that self-interested individuals and corporations should try to capitalize upon.

Sure, there may be opportunities in the crisis but we do not need to pretend that making more money is the only reason people and their representatives should act to direct the course of the market.
